Abstract

This presentation describes the implementation process, and the obtained results, of an electric aircraft project for a Model-Based Systems Engineering course given in the spring of 2020. The aim of the project was to develop an initial design (Dash-1 or baseline) of a hydrogen-powered aircraft that was to fly between Arlanda Sweden and New York in the United States. Additional studies were performed on the baseline aircraft to explore the design space and to identify optimal design parameters. The traditional static nature of aircraft conceptual design is here enhanced by means of incorporating simple dynamic analysis using Modelica models and optimization into the workflow.
