Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the role of relationships in integrating two complementary systems: Object-Process Methodology (OPM) and Modelica. OPM is a powerful approach that allows the representation of Cyber-Physical Human System (CPHS), its functions and behaviour to be modelled through the combination of core systems entities (objects, processes and related states) and 13 types of relations between them. Modelica is an object-oriented modelling language for capturing complex systems behaviour that supports visual modeling and simulation using model building blocks linked by connectors that allow the information to be exchanged between those blocks. By integrating the powerful descriptive capabilities of OPM models with the high performance simulation capabilities of Modelica, we aim to improve design analysis and trade studies while integrating important elements of the digital thread.
One of the key elements of the complementary system is the definition of relationships between its entities to properly define its interfaces between its subsystems. We are proposing an approach that was used for the integration of design and manufacturing teams and data, to evaluate how it can be adapted to the earlier phases of system development, to facilitate a consistent data exchange between conceptual modelling and simulation. it is necessary to conduct a deeper study of relationships. We demonstrate that the DSM-based methods can be used as an effective tool to clarify the principles of the OPM and Modelica integration and to illustrate the importance of relationships management in the integration process. We use the example of an electric scooter to explain the approach.
