Nordic Symposium on Tribology (NORDTRIB)

The NORDTRIB symposium is held biennially in one of the Nordic countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. It was first hosted in Tampere, Finland in 1984. Over the years the Symposium has evolved into a highly regarded venue for the international tribology community. NORDTRIB is intended as a forum where researchers and developers from universities, research institutes and industry can present their latest contributions and also discuss field-related issues.

NORDTRIB 2014 – The 16th Nordic Symposium on Tribology took place from 10 – 13 June 2014 in Aarhus, Denmark and was hosted by the Tribology Centre at Danish Technological Institute (DTI).

The topics covered were:

4. TRIBOLOGY OF MACHINE ELEMENTS
5. OFFSHORE TRIBOLOGY
6. TRIBOLOGY OF MATERIALS
7. SURFACE ENGINEERING AND COATINGS
8. TRIBOLOGICAL CONTACTS AND ELECTRICAL CONTACTS
9. NANOTRIBOLOGY AND BIOTRIBOLOGY
10. TRIBOCHEMISTRY AND TRIBOCORROSION
11. MODELLING OF TRIBOLOGY
12. POLYMER TRIBOLOGY

This year, around 150 participants from companies, institutes and universities from 25 different countries all over the world took part in the conference. There were four invited keynote lecturers and further 130 lectures on ceramic materials, polymers, test methods, modelling, surface texturing, etc. In addition, nine commercial European exhibitors demonstrated their newest, tribologically relevant measuring equipment.

The scientific contributions will be published in Wear, Tribology International, Engineering Tribology as well as the Finnish Journal of Tribology.
