Abstract
Session: Mångfald och deltagande i förskolan
Purpose
This article is a contribution to the discussion of teaching in preschool with a focus on creating a framework for participation in teaching. The study aims to contribute to the academic discussion (1) by highlighting why participation in teaching is important and the issue of equal opportunities for development in preschool. (2) by presenting a theoretical framework (entrepreneurial coaching) for the further development of teaching in preschool.
Theory
The theory that is presented have focus on how to give rum for participation and how these theories influence the idea of lifelong learning and sustainable development.
Design/methodology/approach
A theoretical-based analysis of how to work for participation in teaching. The theory that’s used is interdisciplinary and based on psychology, sociology, entrepreneurship, and pedagogy.
Originality/value
This article is a contribution to the debate on teaching in preschool where the focus is on participation. It will fill the gap between participation understood as children’s possibility to influence their teaching and participation as a democratic right. In this article, the focus on participation is creating conditions for participation in the teaching where concepts such as belongingness, availability, interaction, recognition, commitment, and autonomy also will be highlighted.
Findings
The result shows that participation is not a thing that has only one way to understand it, it is an individual question and an organizational question, as a preschool teacher you must work constantly whit participation, and participation is a question about equal opportunities for lifelong learning. Entrepreneurial coaching can help the preschool teacher to succeed whit working for participation both whit the individual and whit the organization. Action research should be conducted to try entrepreneurial coaching to see if it leads to increased participation.
