About the Conference Proceedings Series
“Extended education” represents a multitude of programs/activities/offerings that in conjunction with the school day and during vacation periods. Research on their effectiveness shows that participation in extended education opportunities can have a positive impact on students' wellbeing and academic or socio-emotional development, depending on the quality of the program.
From an international perspective, it can be stated that extended education has different emphases and orientations. These perspectives are guided by principles such as children and young people’s development, societal development and extending formal schooling. Goals and program content vary according to this orientation and so do the expected effects and quality criteria.
This conference will focus on future opportunities and challenges in providing high quality services. This includes the presentation of new research on several relevant topics as well as practitioner research. We welcome research from various theoretical perspectives, employing diverse research methods, and originating from different fields relevant to extended education. We also invite theoretical contributions that engage with the conference theme.
